Storm Lake St. Mary's High School's human anatomy and physiology class participated in the SCI@BVU competition held on Friday, April 21, at the Estelle Siebens Science Center at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake. This competition was an incredible opportunity for high school students from across Iowa to work together and solve a mocked-up murder case using forensic science.

The coordinators of the event described the experience as an exciting day of hands-on lab activities that included DNA samples, fingerprints, pharmaceuticals, and code-cracking. The students, accompanied by their science, math, or TAG teachers, were divided into teams of four to use information from the crime scene to solve the complicated murder mystery.

The six St. Mary's students who participated demonstrated exceptional skills, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities during the competition. They were able to apply their knowledge of human anatomy and physiology to collect crucial evidence and help solve the case.
SCI@BVU is an excellent opportunity for students to immerse themselves in STEM fields and gain hands-on experience in real-life scenarios. We are proud of our students' achievements and commitment to learning and growing in these critical areas. Their participation in this competition is a testament to the quality of education they have received at St. Mary's High School.

We congratulate our students on their success at SCI@BVU and look forward to their continued growth and achievement in the future. We also thank the coordinators and faculty at BVU for hosting such a valuable and exciting event.
