Service Opportunities

Students with a service projectService is an important part of each day at St. Mary’s School. Students are encouraged to both lead and serve their fellow students, the parish, local charities and nonprofits, and the community. Volunteering and service build strong communities, improve self-esteem, develop leadership and communication skills and encourage students to find solutions for local problems.

Many college scholarship and admissions programs look at community service hours earned by their applicants. With that in mind, since 2015 St. Mary's School requires each high school student to serve twelve service hours per school year.

Service hours will be outside of school hours, and the student will not receive any direct payment. To be considered complete for the year, service hours must have at least three hours each of school, parish and community.
