National Honor Society StudentsThe National Honor Society is an organization that recognizes high school students based on four criteria: scholarship, leadership, service and character. To be eligible, students must be a junior or senior and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or above as of the end of the semester of the school year. “Cumulative grade point average” refers to the total academic performance as demonstrated by the grades received by the student only while in attendance at St. Mary’s High School in Storm Lake.

Eligible students will be notified during the third quarter of each school year and asked to complete a form that includes their leadership and service experiences. Character will be evaluated by ratings from all high school faculty members. Scholarship is determined from the student’s grade point average, course load and participation in the Honors Program.

Application information is reviewed by the Faculty Council, and selection is determined by majority vote of the council as directed by the National Council.
